a bit about me

Justine Cameron was born and raised in sunny Seattle, Washington. She began singing basically as soon as she could talk—music was a constant in her household, and she would sing along with her favorite vocalists, mimicking their affectations and styles. Her high-pitched baby voice can be heard singing in the background of many a childhood home video. Every road trip was filled with duets in the car with her sister.

It wasn’t so much that Justine found theater; there was no single turning point or moment of discovery. Theater was simply always a part of her life, and she was drawn to perform. As a child, Justine was consistently enrolled in an acting camp, a dance class, or a vocal coaching. She thrived in these spaces, and fell in love with storytelling. Justine’s most life changing (and notable) role was Monkey, “the unexpected hero of the play” in an acting camp at Seattle Children’s Theater when she was 8 years old. She found her true theatrical start in Shakespeare when she was 12, where she became obsessed with analyzing text… and when she was led to musical theater soon after, she was enthralled. She never looked back.

Justine studied at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Fresh out of the college gate, she made her professional debut playing Katherine Plumber in NEWSIES at the prestigious Paramount Theater in Chicago, under the direction of Jeff-award winner Jim Corti. Justine has gone on to perform across the country, in various productions, concerts, workshops, and cabarets. Some of her favorite roles include Sister Mary Roberts in SISTER ACT, Fantine in LES MISERABLES, Beth Spencer in MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, and Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET.

Justine believes that empathy is the base of the best art, and that storytelling has the capacity to change minds and affect the world for the better. She loves engaging with new works and devised theatre, as well as finding truth and unique perspectives in classic theatre. Justine is extremely passionate about caring for the environment and reducing her carbon footprint. She strives to be present in each moment, and to live unconditionally in her work and her life.

Justine is an EMC actor. She is a local hire in Chicago, Seattle, and New York City. She’s represented by BMG Talent (Midwest) and Big Fish NW (PNW, On-Camera & VO).
